Round the Mountain – June 21, 2014
Registration for this event is now open. Hosted by the Kootenay Orienteering Club, the Kimberley Trails Society, and the Kootenay Freewheelers’ Cycling Club, the annual Round The Mountain Festival showcases Kimberley’s beautiful trails and highlights the special Round The Mountain Route. Upon registration, participants are asked to choose from a variety of hiking, running, and mountain biking challenges around North Star Mountain. In addition, the festival offers kids races, live music, and food and provides entertainment for the whole family.
42nd Annual JulyFest – July 18 to July 20, 2014
JulyFest is Kimberley’s biggest festival of the year, held over three hot summer days and two nights. Attracting thousands of visitors, the weekend’s festivities begin with 200 plus teams vying for the Canadian bocce Championships. The tournament runs the entire three days. Over the course of the weekend you’ll also be occupied by live music, beverage gardens, local vendors and an opportunity to taste distinguished Kimberley cuisine. This year’s live entertainment is hosted by Wide Mouth Mason and Big Sugar, which is sure to attract a big crowd. Julyfest is also features one of the biggest soccer tournaments in North America, an extreme downhill longboard race, the Kimberley Homecoming Parade, a Kids Festival and a fun Saturday night Dance Party in the Kimberley Civic Centre.
Kimberley’s Sullivan Shakedown – August 23-24, 2014
This event showcases Kimberley’s incredible trail network maintained by Kimberley Nature Park and the Nordic Centre. The 22km lap offers technical single tracks, several challenging climbs leading to spectacular views of the Rocky Mountain and several fast-flowing descents. There’s a great challenge for all levels of riders. The event features other activities for youth, including two special races, as well as relay races. There are 150 spots available for adults for this exciting adventure weekend.
