Tricky Holes at Trickle Creek

This Kimberley, BC golf resort has a lot of things going for it: Les Furber design, nearby resort hotel with preferred tee times, and, of course, it’s available as a vacation option with Golf Canada’s West packages.

Hole #2

Almost right off the bat (or off the club?) you have a tricky hole to contend with. This hole is a dogleg left, so angle your shot appropriately. Aim your tee shot at the 150-yard marker. If you don’t make it there, not much can prevent a hard bounce left.

Hole #6

The undulating fairway and the creek that crosses the course are part of the obstacles that await you at this hole. Aiming your tee shot right of center for the 140-yard mark is your best bet here. If you are left, that is trouble, as it gets especially rough and “bumpy”!

Hole #9

This hole is long, complicated mainly by the sloped terrain. Two bunkers flank the green. Best bet is to approach from center or from the right to compensate, but two other bunkers await you on the left side, near the mid-point. This hole is probably one of the most secretly challenging at the entire resort.

Hole #10

Beginners, run away, this hole is not for you. If you’re not intimidated by the massive slopes of death to the left, do continue. Stick to a center shot down the fairway, and favour the right for obvious reasons. Even if you make it down the narrow fairway, you’ve still got a couple of bunkers lurking off to the sides to contend with.

Hole #15

Take plenty of club at this tricky hole. The pond looks like more of a challenge than it actually is, but avoid the right unless you want to go for a swim. The real challenge is balancing your approach: there’s a fairway bunker off to the left that will gladly take your ball if you stray too far that way. Par is a good score.]]>
